So today while watching
Notting Hill I heard Al Green singing the '70's classic,
"How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?", and I immediately flashed on this science article I came across last year. The article is entiltled:
"Study Suggests You Can Die of a Broken Heart." So tell me what you think after reading both the lyrics and the article. Connect these to Romeo. If he hadn't chosen suicide, would he have died from a brokenheart?

wow... i thought that the dying of a broken heart thing was a total myth! i guess it's not... i think it's interesting how these researchers are now researching things that we never really think possible-- but maybe that's the point....
okay, to answer the question: i don't think that romeo would have died of a broken heart if he hadn't committed suicide. if he had actually been thinking, he would have realized that juliet wasn't really dead and he would have waken her up, waited for her to wake up, or take her out of her tomb and away to Mantua. if he had succeeded in his mission, he and juliet would have been the happiest of couples. he wouldn't have been able to die of a broken heart-- unless juliet left him for some reason, or something of that nature. but if that were to happen, it could me very well possible that he would die because of his stresses and depressing feelings. something along the lines of a heart attack the article said...
what do you guys think?
WOW I am the first commenter ...yay!!! Anyways that is totally true about broken hearts because valentines could be a good time and sometimes a bad time for other people. I think it is sad when people break peoples heart, but the worst thing it happens on valetines day when that is suppose to be a happy time.
Romeo would have probably died of a brokenheart, after Juliets death, because he would have realised that his true love has died and that he probably could never fall in love with someone else, like he fell madly in love with Juiet. He would have died of the shock of the fact that Juliet, the girl that he loves with all his heart, died. So in my opnion Romeo would have died of a brokenheart.
we all knew it for years we just didn't take it seriously. when science caught up some of the things that were commonly believed became folklore but now they are making a comeback or at least one of them is; death by a broken heart. romio might of suffered the same fate but in a sense he did, for he chose poison which went strait to the heart. the possibly is proven but the phrase is still a metaphore.
the article really effected me because a couple of weeks ago, my aunt passed away after the death of her grandmother. my aunt was known as the favorite grandchild. i'm not sure if this was caused by a broken heart, but that is what came to mind the first time that i read the article. i think that Romeo could've died from a broken heart by not being able to with the woman that he truly loved. i also think that Juliet could've also died from a broken heart through being seperated from her husband, her only love.
