Bethlehem's Star-Crossed Lovers

Okay, so as a country the U.S. isn't really that unique. Last year I came across many news articles describing modern day Romeos and Juliets. Check out the SF Chronicle article, "Bethlehem's Star-crossed Lovers..." Comment on how the parents and authorities acted in this modern tale compared to the play. Are you shocked by the violence and treatment of women in what you believe are modern times?

i found this to be a very interesting article. i think it's coincidental how the title of the article (...Star-crossed Lovers..) is taken out of the prologue of Romeo and Juliet.
to answer the question: the parents and authorities were acting the same as those in the play. they didn't want their children to associate with the enemy. i personally am shocked how the opposing religions treat each other. as i was reading, i noticed how the lovers didn't recieve much punishment.i did read though, that if the man were to be a christian and the woman were to be a muslim, they were both likely to be dead in a few hours. i think that both religions need to treat each other with a lot more respect.
I also areesd with gabby because these two religous background couple have a Star-crossed Lovers route that article
is way to crusade. That would a mess up like when we read Romero & Juliet how two families but in this article theres always the feud.
Dang that's not even cool. That is horrible how women are treated now a days. Love is love. It is depressing to see that the fathers and the borhters are doing the dirty work themselves. There is noting that the young man needs to be prosecuted for. He loved this girl and she loved him. I totally agree with Gabby. These two religions need to open up more to each other and get to understand each others points of views. I honestly don't think that violence is the answer. I don't think that the problem was that the two people had a love affair. I think the two groups just wanted something juicy to fight over and to get into each others face. Things can be like that too in Cap.
Sometimes groups won't like each other, but they're just waiting for something to happen to give them a reason to get all personal.
The blog is now closed for bonus points. Mrs. Henry
