I think that its a great book. But i aint quite finished with thihs book. I think that the authors theme is let readers know that no matter what you will always be loved.Well thats my opinion.
Romiette and Julio is an amazing book.
The way the two cultures (African American and Hispanic)are potrayed is really informative.
I love this book so far because it keeps me interested.
MY THEME(fate/coincidence);
-What do Romiette and Julio's names forshadow for them in the future? Is this fate or coincidence?
my theme(fate/coincidence)
-How will Destiny's "Scientific Soul Mate System" come in handy to this novel?
my theme(fate/coincidence)
-How will Romiette and Julio's relationship be effected by "The Family" as well as their parents.?
-How is Ben's character significant in the novel?
How do the parents of Julio react when they meet the parents of Romiette?
Does their race affect the way Romiettes parents think of Julio , and the way Julios parents think of Romiette?
In response to Taryn's question about their names foreshadowing their future, I think it might just be a coincidence. Romiette doesn't really believe in fate or Destiny like her best friend. She thinks the "Scientific Soul Mate System" is a waste of money. Was it Romiette or Julio that noticed the name connection when they were chatting?

i think this book is grate it is understnadable and easy. I like the the story is lead and the characters. This book is one of the best so far ive liked even though im not dune.
The Devildogs cause a lot of feud and obstacles for Romiette and Julio.
The different cultures of the two familys could cause some misunderstandings.
I think this book is good. I like the way the African American culture and Hispanic culture are mixed with their traditions and custumes.
this book looks really intresting. Do both parents dissaprove of the kids relationships or does one set of parents accept their relationship
Those who have read Romeo and Juliet... which are you able to understand more? Is there more violence in this novel?
Which couple do you think are in a tougher situation;Romeo and Juliet or Romiette and Julio? why?
Why odes Romiette and Julio get treated differently from other couples?
I think that this book is really great. I was actually reading for the first time in like how many years. I enjoyed this book. When i i first read this book, i couldn't stop reading it. It does relate to Romeo and Juliet.I really like this book.
MY THEME(fate/coincidence);
- How do Julio and Romi's parents reacts when they tell their parents about each other?
MY THEME(fate/coincidence);
- How does Julio and Romis friends react when Julio and Romi telll them about each other?
MY THEME(fate/coincidence);
-Why the purple FAMILY dont like how Romi and Julio han out?
MY THEME(fate/coincidence);
-Is Julio's Love for Romi true?
I think that Julios love for Romeitte is true, because he wants to always keep her out of any trouble or danger and always wants to protect her.
Answering to:Why the purple FAMILY dont like how Romi and Julio han out?
The Purple family dosen't like Romi and Julio to hang out because the purple family believes that Julio is part of another gang that the purple family dosen't like and also because Julio happens to be a Latino and Romi being an African American.
Answer to:How does Julio and Romis friends react when Julio and Romi telll them about each other?
Romis friend Destiny seems to be sort of over protective of Romi and asks her if she thinks she is doing the right thing,and after Destiny finds out a little about Julio, she seems happy for Romi,Julios friend Ben is also happy for Julio.
does this book end similar to romeo and juliet in the fact that it has a tragic ending?
I think that this book is interesting and when i have to read it, it is easy to read, i don't have to drag myself through it, this is an easy read for people that get easily distracted.
I finished this book today, and i think that the author tried to sum up the book too fast at the end. During the book, he makes every scene very long, and at the end, he finished the book up in like 10 pages. i think that the author should have made the last pages longer, and put more detail into the ending, because to most readers, it is the most important part of the book
My theme is Tragic Flaws and i know that there are alot of them in the book, but most of them have opinions to them. i think that a tragic flaw for Julio was falling for Romi so fast without even knowing her because it could lead to problems and it could be dangerous (it did turn out being dangerous because of the Devildogs gang). Leave me a comment for some events that you thought were tragic flaws that could be argued against even being one.
i think that it was messed up of Romi's friend Destiny (at the end of the book when they were at the hospital) to act like she wasn't affected by Romi and Julio being lost. she was very scared and worried, but she didn't want to show it. she kept making jokes at the end of the book, and she kept trying to cheer everyone up. i think she was acting like that because of how much spirit she has. it is just her personality to lighten everything up with her prescence.
I am asking a question for the students whose theme is deception. what are the main forms of deception in the book that affect the plot?
CAUTION **THIS SPOILS THE BOOK**
this answers hulitaf1's question if the book ends tragically. the book did not end tragically because at the end, everything ended up perfect and everyone was closer than ever. Romiette and Julio both were safe and not badly hurt. no one dies, so this book is not related to the ending of the Romeo and Juliet book.
Sometimes when i read i feel as if the author is saying the same things over and over, like he repeats himself, but he says things in a different words. Has anyone else noticed this?
For those people who have love as their theme in this book, do you think that Romi is showing Julio that she loves him as much as Julio is showing her how much he loves her? I think that Julio likes her more than she likes him because he is always doing things for her, saving her, telling her he loves her in fancy ways, he even says that he would die for her, but you never hear Romi tell him things like that or that she would die for him (or does she tell him... i don't remember her saying anything like that). Leave me an answer.
Fate/Coincidence
question: how will Romiette and Julio be effected by the ordeal?
I thought that the ending was pretty lame because throughout the book the devildogs were portrayed to be very dangerous and how they had guns and everything, but in the end all they did was put them on a boat. so yeah... agree or disagree?
i asked "How is Ben's character significant in the novel?"
to answer my own question... Ben is significant to the novel because in the end he turns out to be Destiny's "soul mate"
i think this is fate.
i agree with DavidC5 when he says that the author sumed up the book too quick. i wish he would of clarified the book more in the ending and not have left it so open-ended. also, i would like to know the outcome of ben and destiny?

---To add to this Julio also proves his love is true by saving her in the end of this book. I don't think Julio would have fought as hard or went through so much if he didn't truely love Romiette.
I really enjoyed this book and found it interesting, but it was an easy read and it would of been more interesting if it was more complex. I liked working with the different themes because it made you think more about the book and what was going on and why.
2 thumbs up.
Will Romiette and Julio live happy forever and get married?
Why didn't the school teachers or principal pay attention at what the Devildogs did?
Will their different cultural backgrounds affect Romiette and Julio's family?
I think that Julio would do anything to protect Romiette, risk his own life or get hurt.
Will Julio return back to visit or live in Texas in the future?
Will Julio get a job he wanted at a tv station in the future?
How were the Devildogs influenced to become a gang?
I think Julio and Romiette's relationship will remain solid for many years because Julio showed how much he loved Romiette by protecting her and meeting with her even though the devil dogs warned him not to be with her.
Why did Malaka have so much hate and anger against Romiette and Julio?
In my socratic seminar today we brought up a great point that can be argued against. The question was do you think that the scientific soul mate system works? i said that you have to put your mind to it to work. Destiny had so much faith in it, and Romiette had no faith in it. Destiny's horoscope told her her soul mate would be someone from London, freckled, and he has a lot to do with music and colors. That is Ben! He lives in LONDON Woods, he always COLORS his hair, he has FRECKLES, and he is always playing his MUSIC really loud in his car. So the system worked for her because she believed in it and at the end she hooked up with Ben. Romiette didn't believe in it and her soul mate ended up being someone completely different. What are your opinions about this?
I know that this book followed the basic plot of romeo and juliet but do they end up happy and alive or happy and dead? Do their parents/guardians find out or is it all a mystery?
my opinion of the book is that it is a good easy read and i think that it should still be read next year for the Romeo and Juliette outside reading because it is a very good book, it's pretty long, and i think that it gives readers a taste of the themes that happen in Romeo and Juliette. However, there are some negativities that come along with the good parts of the book. it is really hard to think under the surface for the book because there isn't much other in the story than the plot and the things that the characters say. most of the under the surface connections come from the dialogue; which brings me to another thing, the dialogue in this book isn't hard enough,and it is sometimes boring to hear their remarks. the author makes it seem like they are repeating the same lines over and over, just in different ways or words.
this answers shelbyb1's question if they end up happy and alive or happy and dead at the end of the book. Everyone in the book end's up happy (except for the gang members that were arrested) no one dies or gets injured badly, and at the end, the parents are happy, they don't fight, and Romiette and Julio are closer than ever. so this book has a positive ending in both ways, feelings and life.
