Looking for Alaska by John Green

So who'd name their daughter after a state like Alaska? What does it say about her personality? Why can't the colonel go by his real name, Chip? Pudge for the skinniest guy? Why so much deception? Is it fate/coincidence that they've ended up as roomies? So what do the boarders and the Weekend Warriors tell us about culture clash? What's happening with love and time in this novel? Start chatting!!

This book is interesting, optimistic and good for the young adult soul to read. I haven't read the whole book yet, but overall of what I've read, it's pretty good so far, just the main character, Pudge/Myles can get carried away from girls.

Why does this teenage boy, Myles always meet up with the character, Alaska (a girl he really likes, yet she doesn't notice him)? I think they bump into each other all the time, not because of their mere friendship, but because of fate and concidence (my theme) and should just deal with the fact that they are made to be together.

i don't have alot of info on the book to make and inference so i'll ask a question... are these characters from two seperate worlds? is there anyone or anything holding them back from being together? And astly, what characteristics, if any, do the two of them share?

i think pudges family reallly loves him because when he threw his party and no one really showed up his family tried making up for it.

i think pudge really loves his family and cares about them eventhough he doesn't show it because when his parents said that they wee going on a trip he was about to cry because they were ok with him not coming home for thanksgiving.

i think the reason why the colonel and pudge have different names is because it's a way to not be themselves and escape their identity

Can Pudge deal with the fact that Alaska and him weren't supposed to be together ( or can Pudge deal with Alaska's fate)?

I read some of this book and I think that he can eventually(.to answer abby's question). I mean at frist he'll probably think its his fault and he won't be able to deal with it. But in time.

pudges tragic flaw is that he lets others control him.

for time i thinkthe colonel acts too quickly. For example when he heard about Alaska's death and wanted to findout right away why and what had happened.
